Port-au-Prince, June 11, 2024—After nearly two weeks of intense negotiations, Prime Minister Garry Conille has officially formed Haiti’s new government. The formation, comprising 14 ministers, including four women, marks a significant milestone in Haiti’s political landscape.

In a special issue of Le Moniteur published on June 11, the ministerial cabinet was formally established. This allowed Prime Minister Conille to begin implementing the promises outlined in the April 3 agreement signed by the parties involved in forming the Presidential Transition Council. This agreement set the framework for the transition of power and the stabilization of the nation.

Key Appointments in the New Government

The new cabinet includes a diverse array of experienced professionals:

  • Garry Conille retains his role as Prime Minister, overseeing several vital ministries.
  • Carlos Hercule is appointed Minister of Justice and Public Security.
  • Dominique Dupuy takes on dual roles as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Haitians Living Abroad.
  • Ketleen Florestal brings her expertise to the Ministries of Economy and Finance and Planning and External Cooperation.
  • Raphaël Hosty is now the Public Works, Transportation, and Communications Minister.
  • James Monazard leads both the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Tourism.
  • Antoine Augustin heads the Ministries of National Education and Vocational Training and Culture and Communication.
  • Georges Wilbert Franck becomes the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor.
  • Georges Fils Brignol takes the helm as Minister of Public Health and Population.
  • Marie Françoise Suzan is appointed Minister of Women’s Affairs and Women’s Rights.
  • Niola Lynn Sarah Devalis Octavius becomes Minister of Youth, Sports, and Civic Action.
  • Jean Mare Berthier Antoine is appointed Minister of Defense.
