Mirebalais Under Siege: Gangs Display Open Defiance

The security situation in Mirebalais, a key commune in Haiti’s Centre department, remains tense as gangs escalate their operations in the region. Disturbing propaganda videos have surfaced online, showing notorious gang leaders Wilson Joseph, also known as “Lanmò San Jou” of the 400 Mawozo, and Jeff Larose, alias “Jeff Gwo Lwa Che” of the Talibans de Canaan, roaming openly through the streets of Mirebalais. These individuals, linked to the terrorist coalition “Viv Ansanm,” appear to move with impunity, sparking outrage and fear among residents.

Police Respond with Full Force

In response to this alarming display of gang control, the Haitian National Police (PNH) has deployed specialized units—including SWAT and BRI teams—to reinforce security operations in Mirebalais. These reinforcements aim to intensify efforts to track, neutralize, or expel gang elements from the commune and restore peace to the region.

Military-Grade Equipment Delivered

To support the police’s effectiveness on the ground, the PNH High Command has sent a shipment of combat equipment to the Centre department. This strategic reinforcement is designed to bolster the operational capacity of police units actively engaged in the region’s most volatile zones.

Strategic Positioning and Tactical Advances

The PNH has also implemented a tactical strategy by positioning officers in key zones around Mirebalais. Forces are progressively advancing toward areas controlled or influenced by gang operatives. The battle for Mirebalais is far from over, but Haitian law enforcement remains determined to push back the criminal forces and reclaim national territory.

The Haitian Tribune will continue to monitor the unfolding situation and provide verified updates as they develop.
