LeBron James says his helicopter trips between New York and the Philadelphia 76ers’ training facility are simply part of his travel routine.
James addressed the attention surrounding his commute Friday after Philadelphia’s 125–120 preseason loss to the Boston Celtics. “Just another way of transportation,” he told reporters, adding that was all there was to it.
The 41-year-old star is spending time in both New York and Philadelphia during his first season with the 76ers. On practice days, he travels to the team’s training center in Camden, New Jersey, attends practice and treatment, then flies back to New York. The helicopter, according to reports, is connected to his Fanatics partnership.
The flight takes roughly 30 to 45 minutes each way, compared with about two hours by car. James’ comments suggested he sees the arrangement as a practical way to manage the distance between his home and the team’s facilities.
