PSG Sign World Cup Hero Ferran Torres From Barcelona in Major Summer Transfer

PARIS — Paris Saint-Germain have completed the signing of Spanish international Ferran Torres from Barcelona, adding the World Cup-winning forward to an already powerful attacking lineup.

Torres, 26, has signed a contract with the reigning French and European champions through 2031. The transfer is reportedly worth approximately â‚¬50 million (£42.7 million).

The move comes just weeks after Torres played a decisive role in Spain’s World Cup triumph, scoring the winning goal in extra time against Argentina as Spain captured its second men’s world championship.

Torres Arrives After Impressive Barcelona Season

Torres enters the next chapter of his career following one of his strongest campaigns with Barcelona.

The Spanish forward scored 21 goals in 49 appearances across all competitions, while also contributing three assists. His performances helped Barcelona secure the La Liga championship before his successful World Cup campaign further elevated his profile.

At PSG, Torres will reunite with manager Luis Enrique, who previously coached him with the Spanish national team. Torres made his senior international debut under Enrique and has since recorded 25 goals in 65 appearances for Spain.

PSG Continue Strengthening Their Attack

Torres becomes PSG’s second major attacking addition of the summer following the signing of Maghnes Akliouche from Monaco.

The Paris club continues to reinforce its squad after establishing itself as Europe’s dominant force in recent seasons. PSG have captured the UEFA Champions League in each of the past two seasons, further strengthening their status among European football’s elite.

The club added another trophy Wednesday with a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa in the UEFA Super Cup.

Torres brings significant experience to Paris. Before joining Barcelona in 2022, he spent two seasons with Manchester City after beginning his professional career with Valencia.

His arrival could become even more important if PSG lose Bradley Barcola, who has reportedly attracted interest from Liverpool during the summer transfer window.

For Torres, the move provides an opportunity to build on a remarkable year that has already included domestic success with Barcelona and the biggest prize in international football with Spain.

Now, the World Cup hero heads to Paris with another objective: helping PSG continue its dominance of French and European football.
