New Equipment Arrives for the Haitian National Police
Port-au-Prince, August 23, 2024 — The Haitian National Police (PNH) has bolstered its capabilities with the arrival of 20 Toyota armored vehicles. These vehicles were ordered by the Haitian government, led by Prime Minister Ariel Henry, at the end of 2023 from the United Arab Emirates. The delivery, which took place on Friday, marks a significant enhancement in the operational capacity of the PNH.
In addition to this acquisition, the U.S. Southern Command announced on the same day that it has begun delivering 24 Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles to the Military of Haiti (MMAS) as part of American military aid. The MRAPs, known for their ability to withstand explosive attacks, are expected to provide critical support in ensuring the safety and effectiveness of operations conducted by the MMAS.
This influx of equipment represents a crucial step in strengthening Haiti’s security forces, enabling them to better address the ongoing challenges faced by the nation. The combined efforts of the Haitian government and international allies underscore a commitment to enhancing the country’s security infrastructure amid a complex security environment.
