Anti-Corruption Agents Raid Ministry of Youth and Sports Amid Ongoing Investigation

Port-au-Prince | July 17, 2025 — In a dramatic escalation of an ongoing corruption probe, investigators from Haiti’s Anti-Corruption Unit (ULCC) carried out a search and seizure operation on Wednesday, July 16, at the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Civic Action (MJSAC).

The operation was conducted by sworn agents acting under the authority of ULCC Director General, Me Hans Jacques Ludwig Joseph. It forms part of a larger investigation that has been underway for over six months, following multiple reports of alleged corruption and administrative mismanagement within the Ministry.

According to officials, investigators seized physical documents, digital storage devices, and other potential evidence for further analysis. During the search, the ULCC team—acting as judicial police officers—also conducted interviews on site and sealed a safe containing 1,225,500 gourdes in cash. Authorities believe this sum may be linked to the disbursement of 50 million gourdes designated for Flag Day celebrations held on May 18, 2025.

The safe and the cash found within are now central to the probe, which aims to determine whether the use of public funds for the national celebration was misappropriated or mismanaged.

The ULCC continues to encourage public cooperation and transparency. Citizens with relevant information or those willing to assist the investigation are urged to:

  • Call the confidential, toll-free hotline at 5656
  • Visit ULCC headquarters at #20, Delmas 83, Port-au-Prince

This latest raid signals a renewed push by Haitian authorities to tackle entrenched corruption within government institutions and restore public trust.
